About the event

This year marks the anniversary of the first ship of immigrants to leave Norway for the United States. Come learn about who was on this ship (the Restauration), why they were immigrating, where they landed, what became of them--and a surprising connection to Utah!

Our presenter, Liv Marit Haakenstad, is an accredited genealogist at Norwegian Genealogy (AG®), an accredited speaker (AGL™), a researcher at the Charles Redd Center for Western Studies, and a visiting professor at BYU. She works as an author and professional genealogist and has a master’s degree in non-fiction writing. Liv is also a part of the Crossings 200 committee (see https://utvandrermuseet.no/2025/nordmenn-i-utah-1825-1920).

This promises to be an engaging and informative presentation on the Norwegian immigrant experience in America as we celebrate this important anniversary.

As always, we welcome any treats or desserts you'd like to bring--Norwegian if you can, but we'll appreciate whatever you'd like to share.
