Hurra for Syttende Mai!
Saturday's weather was perfect for Constitution Day: Cloudy and cool enough to wear a bunad! That may be the reason record numbers of participants showed up to honor the founding of the Norwegian Consitution and celebrate their Norwegian connections. Thank you to all who showed up early to get things set up (it's a LOT of work) and who stayed to put it all away again (also a LOT of work).
Special thanks to the Salt Lake Letter Carrier Band for their performances; to Sarah Reed, assistant professor of history at BYU, for the tale for dagen; to the Salt Lake Scandinavian Music and Dance group and the Troll Sisters for their dance and music performances--and for teaching us the Treklappdans (three-clap-dance) and other dances. Thanks also to all the vendors who provided food, drinks, and Norwegian goods to make the day feel like a small piece of Norway.
