Syv Slag Julekaker

Updated: Sep 22, 2024

With December and Christmas just a few weeks away, we thought it would be fun to learn about some Norwegian baking traditions that are so much a part of Norwegian Culture. One of our members has agreed to share his family’s experience of baking and sharing hundreds of Norwegian cookies with their whole neighborhood at Christmas time last year. Stewart Shelline and family researched Norway’s “Syv Slags Julekaker” (seven kinds of cookies) and decided to bake all of them and invite the whole neighborhood over for a little taste of Norway. They plan to do it again this year and would love to share with us what they have learned and experienced. We will be meeting at their home in South Jordan on Thursday the 16th of November at 6:00 pm and hope you can join us. If you have a recipe that you would like to share, please make several copies that you can hand out. Please bring a food item that can be shared with everyone and remember to invite family members and friends.
