Timpanogos Symphony Orchestra to feature Grieg, Sibelius, Alfvén on "Stunning Scandinavia" program

Experience a compelling journey through the sounds of the North with “Stunning Scandinavia”, a vibrant showcase of Scandinavian masterpieces. The evening features the stirring Piano Concerto in A minor by Grieg, brought to life by Scott Holden, professor of piano at BYU’s School of Music, whose expert artistry and rich interpretation give new depth to this Romantic cornerstone. Sibelius’s haunting tone poem “The Swan of Tuonela” follows, with Stephanie Simper delivering the luminous solo line of the English horn, evoking the mystical swan gliding across the dark Finnish waters. The program also includes Alfvén’s Swedish Rhapsody No. 1 and Grieg’s “Norwegian Dances”. Each work captures the essence of Northern European culture, promising a deeply resonant and unforgettable musical experience.
